How Can Sex Prevent Prostate Cancer?

Cancer is among the top causes of death worldwide. In men, prostate cancer is a common problem particularly among those beyond their 50s. In the U.S., some 240,000 men are diagnosed with this condition each year. In Britain, 30,000 new cases are diagnosed each year leading to the death of some 10,000 men.

Statistics showed that the average age for men diagnosed with this condition was 67 while the average age at death was 80 years of age. This finding was based on data gathered from 2005 to 2009.

This type of cancer in men when left untreated can lead men to experience difficulty in getting erections without using pills. Some men lose their ability to have sex. But did you know that men can actually prevent this type of cancer? The answer is doing sex regularly.

Specifically, frequent ejaculations in their 20s may lower the risk of prostate cancer at a later age. This was what Australian researchers reported in the British Journal of Urology International.

The Aussie scientists revealed that men in their 20s who experienced five or more ejaculations every week had a lesser chance of developing prostate cancer in their later life.

This finding was also supported by another study published in the Journal of American Medical Association. The research reported that 21 or more ejaculations in a month were associated with lower risk of prostate cancer in older men compared to those who had lesser ejaculations.

In addition, another study done by researchers at the Nottingham University confirmed that men in their 50s who had an active sex life had some protection against the disease.

For those who continue to be active in sexual activity, do not take for granted the importance of using a condom. There’s surely one you can get that suits your personal preference including the thinnest condom that promises comfort and a natural feeling.
